The Dunwells - August 17

These folk-rockers from Leeds have been called “the next U2”

Formed in 2009 in Yorkshire, England, the Dunwells specialize in the kind of rootsy songwriting that also brings to mind the vocal harmonies of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Mumford and Sons.

When they make music, the results exemplify the equation that the sum of the parts can be even greater than the whole. Striking an organic blend between acoustic and electric roots music laced by luscious vocal harmonies by all five members, their songs and sound feel both bracingly fresh and as warm and familiar as a dear friend.

Solas - August 18

The quintessential Irish-American band, starring Seamus Egan in traditional and contemporary Celtic music

Solas is the quintessential Irish-American band recording and touring in the U.S. today. Fifteen years ago, in a manner befitting their name (Gaelic for “light”), Solas burst onto the Irish music scene.

Anchored by founding members Seamus Egan (flute, tenor banjo, mandolin, whistles, guitars, bodhran) and Winifred Horan (violins, vocals), Solas is rounded out by Mick McAuley (accordians, low whistle, concertina, vocals), Eamon McElholm (guitars, keyboards, vocals), and newest member and lead singer, Niamh Varian-Barry.

This weekend is just one part of the Flights & Sounds Summer Festival.
