Go Green at Great Park’s Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day April 14
Event to feature recycling, educational activities, fitness and gourmet food trucks

IRVINE – Drive through and drop off your old televisions, computer monitors, DVD players or other electronic devices at the e-recycling collection zone at the first ever Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day at the Orange County Great Park on Saturday, April 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Register yourself or your family for the free 5k run/walk through the Park, then spend the morning at the Great Park Green Village, a special area filled with community booths that feature fun, interactive and educational activities.
“We are excited to present the Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day in collaboration with Tierra Verde Industries and e-Recycling of California,” said Beth Krom, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. “This event is a great way parents can teach their children how to preserve the environment and enjoy a healthy run or walk through the Great Park.”
Come visit the Green Village and explore ways to incorporate sustainability and health and wellness into your life. Kids will learn how to create crafts out of recycled materials, participate in science experiments on recycling, composting and repurposing at the Inside the Outdoors booth, and test their sports skills at the i9 Sports booth. See new residential technologies and learn about new rebates at the Southern California Edison booth or learn how to grow fruits and vegetables, use mulch, and make compost from University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Orange County.
There will also be an opportunity to clear out your garages and do something good for the earth by recycling old electronic devices. Common electronics accepted for recycling are televisions, computer monitors, computers, laptops, keyboards, printers, mice, hard drives, fax machines, microwave ovens, DVD players, VCR’s, cables and cords, telephones, cell phones, radios, shredders, stereo components, power supplies, tape and zip drives and more.
Items that cannot be accepted include large appliances, toner cartridges, fluorescent bulbs or batteries of any kind. All hard drives will be completely destroyed and recycled according to FACTA standards in order to protect private information.
