Great Park to Present Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day April 14
Family Fun Filled Day Features Running, Walking and e-Recycling on the New North Lawn

IRVINE – As Earth Day approaches, treat your family to a fun-filled day of fitness, educational activities and gourmet food trucks while learning the importance of recycling at the first Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day at the Orange County Great Park on Saturday, April 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The day kicks off with the Family 5K Run/Walk, a non-competitive race, where families can take a scenic tour on the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro runways and see the new Great Park agricultural areas.
“We are excited to present our first Runway Dash & e-Recycle Day,” said Beth Krom, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. “This event combines education, recycling and physical activity, all of which are important for a healthy lifestyle. People can bring their e-waste and know it will be recycled responsibly.”
Mascots from local schools and organizations will join the festivities to march, waddle and walk their way through the course with participants. Be amused and entertained as they compete in our Mighty Mascot Race to see who is the fittest of them all. There is even a special activity for families with young children. Bring your strollers, wagons or push carts for the Push & Pull Stroll through the Great Park.
Visitors are encouraged to bring old televisions, computers and electronic devices to the e-recycling collection zone. Children can also learn to create recycled crafts while parents explore booths supporting personal, regional and global health and living.
Admission and parking are free. Space is limited and advance registration for the Family 5K Run/Walk is required. No walk-ups. Visit racewire.com/register.php?id=1690 to register your family today!
