IRVINE – The Great Park’s growing complement of diverse arts programming continues this weekend with dance and photography. The weekend will mark the continuation of a popular “arts happening” series and the final exhibition of the first artist-in-residence to work in the months-old Great Park Artists Studios.

The third in a series of monthly Palm Court Arts Happenings, The Landscape of Movement features the Motion/TRIBE dance company and artistic director Marie de la Palme Saturday, January 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in historic Hangar 244. During The Landscape of Movement, Marie de la Palme will transform the audience into performers by leading them in a series of dance workshops that explore the themes of movement, then lead her troupe in an hour-long performance.

“Our collaboration with Arts Orange County on these Palm Court Arts Happenings has proved very successful,” said Beth Krom, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. “Landscape of Movement will engage the public in another unique and exciting creative experience.”

The Landscape of Movement is the third of nine Palm Court Arts Happenings presented at the Orange County Great Park in partnership with Arts Orange County, a leader in building appreciation and support for the arts and arts education throughout Orange County.

After the performance, visitors can see the final exhibition of Artist-in-Residence Amy Caterina’s portrait project titled, “In Case You Get Lost.” Caterina has been taking photos of visitors who enter her studio since she began her residency at the Great Park six months ago. This weekend marks the completion of the project, which was inspired by families of 9/11 victims who did not have proper photos of their loved ones. The artist will provide everyone who participated with a duplicate photo of themselves for their family.

“In Case You Get Lost” will be on display in the Artists Studios from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Orange County Great Park is located at Sand Canyon and Marine Way, and can easily be reached by the 5 or 405 freeways. For more information, please visit www.ocgp.org or call 866-829-3829.
