Foundation for the Great Park Underwrites Artist-in-Residence

IRVINE –The Foundation for the Great Park demonstrated their commitment to the Great Park’s Artist-in-Residence program this week by donating $7,500 to underwrite artist-in-residence Kevin Kwan Loucks. The announcement was made at the December 15 Great Park Board of Directors meeting.

The Great Park Artist-in-Residence program was launched earlier this year in the new Great Park Artists Studios. The program currently includes four artists: Amy Caterina, Kevin Kwan Loucks, Deborah Aschheim and The Legacy Project.

“We are grateful to the Foundation for their enthusiastic support of our Artist-in-Residence Program,” said Beth Krom, Chair of the Great Park Board of Directors. “This is just one of the many ways they have demonstrated their commitment to advancing our arts and culture programs at the park.”

Loucks, a critically-acclaimed pianist and a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York, is curating a chamber music series as part of his engagement at the Park. The first recitals in that series begin on Saturday, December 17.

“We are proud to sponsor the work of Kevin Kwan Loucks,” said former state senator Marian Bergeson, Chair of the Foundation for the Great Park. “Kevin is a wonderful music educator who will help make classical music accessible to all Park visitors.”

Loucks’ residency continues through April 2012, and will include open rehearsals, recitals and other programs open to the public. More information about these programs is available at ww.ocgp.org. The Orange County Great Park is located at Sand Canyon and Marine Way, and can easily be reached by the 5 or 405 freeways. For more information, please visit www.ocgp.org or call 866-829-3829.
