Strength and Conditioning Specialists to Coach Free Clinic

IRVINE – A team of experienced professional coaches from Velocity Sports Performance will teach the free Speed, Strength and Agility Clinic at the Great Park on November 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The coaches specialize in advanced sports performance training for athletes of all skill levels. This clinic is designed to give boys and girls ages 7 to 15 the opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while training for their sport of choice. Jonathan Jackowski - NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Coach Jonathan Jackowski was a three sport athlete — football, lacrosse and indoor track at Westhill High School in Syracuse, New York. He attended Cortland State University in New York and was a defensive back on the Red Dragons football team. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2005 in the Department of Exercise Science & Sports Studies as a major in Sport Management.
Coach Jackowski was a Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Syracuse University, where he worked with each of the 20 varsity teams, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer programs and lacrosse programs. He earned his Master’s Degree in Instructional, Design, Development and Evaluation from Syracuse University in 2008.
Coach Jackowski was at Velocity Sports Performance – Redondo, where he worked with athletes from the NFL, NBA, UFC, Professional Boxing, Major League Soccer, Major League Lacrosse, Major Indoor Lacrosse League, Professional Arena Soccer League, The Xtreme Soccer League and NASCAR. However, he is most proud of the work he has done with the Police Officers, Firefighters and members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Coach Jackowski is a member of The National Strength & Conditioning Association.
Jason Moreno - NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Coach Jason Moreno began his career with Velocity Sports Performance 3 ½ years ago initially starting in Anaheim. He received varsity letters in football, wrestling and baseball. During his senior year in high school he was named 1st team all CIF in baseball and 2nd team all league in football. Out of high school Coach Moreno was selected in the 42nd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the amateur baseball draft, but opted to go to college.
Coach Moreno attended the University of Iowa where he received a scholarship to play baseball and majored in Sports Science. He served as head baseball coach at Cathedral College Prep Academy in Los Angeles where during his inaugural season he led his team to their first league championship in over 20 years. Coach Moreno has also worked for Dan Cavalea head strength coach for the New York Yankees and Sean Skahan, head strength coach for the Anaheim Ducks.
James Sutton - NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Coach James Sutton is an Orange County native who participated in the National Junior Olympics in 1996 and 1997 for track and field. While attending Aliso Viejo High School, Coach James was a two sport letterman in football and track and field, he also earned all-league honors in both sports.
Coach Sutton graduated from Hampton University where he earned a Bachelor in Science of Sports Management. He has been a coach at Velocity Sports Performance in Irvine since early 2010. In addition to being a football coach at Aliso Niguel High School as well as one of the more tenured coaches at Velocity, Coach Sutton is currently seeking enrollment in a graduate program for Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise. James has a great rapport with all of the athletes he coaches and they always know Coach Sutton will give them thoughtful and truthful feedback.
Aaron Williams - NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Coach Aaron Williams played football at Marina High School in Huntington Beach where he played football all four years. Coach Williams attended Cal Poly State University of San Luis Obispo and played football as a strong safety and was team captain his senior year. He played defensive back of Arena 2 football in Amarillo, Texas. Coach Williams finished his career playing for the Spokane Shock in Washington.
Coach Williams was hired at Velocity Sports Performance in the spring of 2009 – and is regarded as the local “Football Performance Guru” in the Irvine VSP location. This past winter Aaron was the lead assistant coach to Ken Vick – Velocity Sports Performance Executive Sports Performance Director – and headed up the 2011 NFL Draft training staff, coaching four 1st round draft picks including #2 overall pick Von Miller, #8 overall pick Jake Locker, #16 overall pick Ryan Kerrigan and the #17 overall pick Nate Solder. Aaron is a huge asset to the VSP Irvine staff and a great team member.

The Orange County Great Park, with its 1,347-acre master plan, is the focal point of the redevelopment of the publicly-owned portion of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro. The Great Park features an iconic tethered helium balloon that rises 400 feet in the air, providing an aerial view of Park development.
