Make Your Mark at the Great Park
Public invited to create mini artworks for exhibition and community event called Great 948.

IRVINE –You are invited to make your mark at Great 948, a community project and art happening that brings the community together to create an installation at the Great Park. The Park is collecting 948 mini artworks from the public, created on 6×6-inch Masonite tiles. The tiles will be displayed at the new Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex September 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., as part of the Great 948 event. The tiles will remain on display in the Great Park Artists Studios through October 23.
To participate in the Park’s first community art exhibition, pick up a free Masonite tile at the Great Park Visitors Center, create an artwork that expresses a special place or time that is meaningful to you, then return it to the Park. ‘Great 948’ participants can pick up a free tile during normal operating hours, and completed tiles are due by Friday, September 23 by 8:00 p.m. The tiles will become part of the Great 948 art installation, which will be displayed at the Great 948 arts happening September 24. The tiles will be retained by the Park for future display, giving participants a chance to become an ongoing part of the Park’s public art program.
In addition to the Great 948 exhibition, the arts happening in the Palm Court Arts Complex will feature Plane Air Power, paintings and sculptures by Jorg Dubin in the Great Park Gallery. Free Range Art and Photography by Artist-in-Residence Amy Caterina will be on display in the Great Park Artists Studios.
While at the arts happening, visitors will enjoy local flavors from gourmet food trucks and music by DJ Keith 2.0 and ‘Dust Collectors: DJs from the Crosby’ and live bands, including Strange Birds, Yellow Red Sparks and the Allah-Las.
