Louisiana-born singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams started out singing blues music. Her 14 Grammy nominations have sprawled across the folk, country, rock, pop and Americana categories. Vanity Fair has described her work as “part Hank Williams, part Bob Dylan, part Keith Richards circa Exile on Main Street,” but even being named with that rarified company hardly describes Williams.

She’s an American original, like Hank Williams and Dylan only in that she’s created her own unique place in music. One of the most critically-lauded songwriters of her generation, the spare, well-chosen words of her lyrics are matched by the unvarnished emotion in her voice. There’s not a wasted note, but it’s deeply fulfilling music. As the Los Angeles Times put it, “Williams may be simple, but she’s simple like cinnamon toast.” She is touring on the heels of her new Blessed album, one of the most well received albums of her long career.
