March 24, 2011 – IRVINE, California – In response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the Orange County Great Park Farmers Market will feature a Team Kids LemonAID store, a site for shoppers to enjoy lemonade and donate to the relief efforts to help children and families in Japan. Team Kids is an Irvine-based nonprofit that focuses on mobilizing children as powerful community leaders, ready to come to the aid of others.

All of the proceeds from the Team Kids LemonAID drive will be donated to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund. Team Kids will be at the Great Park Farmers Market this Sunday, March 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“The Great Park is proud to partner with Team Kids to help aid victims of the massive earthquake and tsunami,” said Beth Krom, Chair, Orange County Great Park Corporation. “I urge the entire Orange County community to join Team Kids in supporting this community-based relief effort.”

The Great Park Farmers Market features a wide selection of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables and enjoy treats from several gourmet food trucks on site. Take a free ride in the Great Park Balloon, weather permitting, a spin on the Carousel or stroll through the Great Park Farm & Food Lab.

About the Great Park
The Orange County Great Park, with its 1,347-acre master plan, is the focal point of the redevelopment of the publicly-owned portion of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro. The Great Park is currently 27.5 acres and includes an iconic tethered helium balloon that rises 400 feet in the air, providing an aerial view of Park development. A $70 million development plan to expand the Park to more than 200 acres is currently underway. The plan will build out a core section of the Park for the most immediate and wide-ranging public benefit, including the initial components of the sports park, a 114-acre agricultural area, and an art and culture exhibition space.
