Great Park Presents Movie on the Lawn: Iron Man The Mega-Blockbuster Movie

OCTOBER 8, 2008 – IRVINE, California – You’ve flown on the huge inflatable Great Park Balloon, well now head to the Orange County Great Park to see a huge inflatable screen and enjoy a Movie on the Lawn. Bring your beach chair and blanket to watch the box office hit, Iron Man, this Saturday, October 11th, at 8:00 PM at the Preview Park lawn. Parking, admission, and popcorn for the first 500 are free!

Iron man, released by Paramount Pictures, emerged as the first mega-blockbuster this past summer. As the story goes, after an accident, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark creates a suit that sustains his life. When he heals, he decides to use his technology to fight crime and leads a double life as Iron Man in this comic book adventure. Iron Man, Rated PG-13, stars Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Terrence Howard and is directed by Jon Favreau.

Rolling Stone says –“It’s been years since a movie superhero was this fierce and this funny. All praise to acting dynamo Robert Downey Jr., who brings so much creative juice to the party that Iron Man achieves instant liftoff.

“We are pleased to bring the Mega-hit, Iron Man, to the Orange County Great Park,” said Great Park Board Chair Larry Agran. “We’ve just completed the very popular summer Night Flights concert series, now it’s exciting to follow that up with Movies on the Lawn, and later in the month with the Great Park Pumpkin Harvest event.”

The Orange County Great Park opened July 14, 2007 with the launch of the iconic Orange County Great Park Balloon. Balloon night flights have been added Thursday through Sunday from 7 pm to 10 pm, winds and weather permitting. Come visit the Preview Park for the movie, a night flight, or a walk on the historic World War II timeline. More than 60,000 visitors have flown in the Balloon and visited the Preview Park to date.

Plans for the Orange County Great Park include a wide array of active and passive uses, including a 2.5 mile canyon and lake, miles of walking and biking trails, a cultural terrace, Orange County’s largest sports park and a botanical garden.
