Irvine Mayor and Great Park Vice Chair Michael Pinto to Address Environmental Coalition
JULY 11, 2008 – IRVINE, California – Irvine Mayor Beth Krom and Great Park Corporation Vice Chair Michael Pinto will address a special meeting of the Environmental Coalition for the Orange County Great Park and the Great Park Neighborhoods on Friday, June 13th at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Irvine Ranch Water District, 15600 Sand Canyon in Irvine.
Irvine Mayor Beth Krom will report on the Great Park’s progress and discuss development and financing strategy. Dr. Michael Pinto, Vice Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation and President/Founder of the Laguna Canyon Foundation, will discuss environmental features of the Great Park including the Wildlife Corridor; and the Agua Chinon. He will also detail the upcoming 27.5 acre Preview Park located at the site of the Great Park Balloon scheduled to launch July 12, 2008.
The Environmental Coalition for the Orange County Great Park is an independent coalition of 16 regional Orange County environmental groups, as well as local groups and individuals with a specific interest in environmental issues at the Orange County Great Park and Great Park Neighborhoods.

The Orange County Great Park, which is almost twice the size of New York City’s Central Park, will be a major metropolitan park and the focal point of the redevelopment of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro. The Great Park will include extensive natural areas and open space in addition to recreational and cultural uses.
