Our Veterans Are Our Heroes
I’m pleading with you to remember
And show a little extra care,
For all the veterans who have served us,
Both over here and over there!
It serves us well, to reflect a spell,
Over hundreds of years gone by,
On the thousands of those, who protected us,
When enemies to beat us did try!
Think of the life you have today
And all of our veterans who paid the price,
One and all they heard the call
And need not to hear it twice!
They came to your defense my friends
And served you well, with honor and with pride
And suffered horrendous casualties
While defeating those on the other side!
I want you all, to stop and think awhile,
About our veterans, who still suffer and hurt this very day
And I want you to think, about your good life
And the thousands of veterans who paved the way!
Please open up your heart today and help to ease their pain away,
Visit, call or write a vet, to show how much you really care,
Their burden is yours and mine my friend,
It’s one that we all must share!
William Grant Burns, Poet Laureate
