Great Park Balloon Rises to New Attendance Record
DECEMBER 20, 2007 – IRVINE, California – Attendance at the Orange County Great Park Balloon site continues to break records. This past week, 2,631 passengers took flight. That is more passengers than in any other week since the balloon was launched on July 14, 2007.
The daily attendance record was also broken on Saturday, December 15th, when 1,154 passengers rode the balloon. To reach that attendance figure the balloon flew at full capacity for six straight hours with approximately 30 passengers aboard for every flight.
“Public interest in the balloon is soaring,” said Larry Agran, Chair, Orange County Great Park Board Corporation. “We at the Great Park expect the number of people who come to ride the Great Park Balloon to rise even higher in the future.”
The Orange County Great Park, which is almost twice the size of New York’s Central Park, will be a major metropolitan park and the focal point of the redevelopment of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro. The Great Park will include extensive natural areas and open space in addition to recreational and cultural uses.
