Bovis Lend Lease to Oversee Construction of the Orange County Great Park
Bovis Lend Lease Wins $3.5 Million Contract
MARCH 24, 2006 – IRVINE, California – The Orange County Great Park Corporation Board of Directors at its meeting yesterday unanimously approved the selection of Bovis Lend Lease as program manager for the Orange County Great Park. Bovis Lend Lease will provide all the management services necessary to assist the Orange County Great Park Corporation in managing the planning and design efforts in preparation of the construction of the Great Park over the next 18 months. Bovis Lend Lease provided similar services to the Statue of Liberty Restoration Project, the Los Angeles City Hall, and Disneyland Paris.
Bovis Lend Lease will be responsible for reviewing materials created by the Great Park Design Studio. They will also provide engineering, construction review, and operational and maintenance impact analysis of the master design to create an overall check and balance in the organizational structure.
“On January 23, 2006, the Orange County Great Park Corporation made an important decision in selecting its Master Designer,” said Larry Agran, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. “Today, we are making a second critical decision in approving Bovis Lend Lease to oversee construction, making completion of the Park one step closer to reality.”
Last October, the Board authorized procurement of a program management “for fee” firm. Five firms responded. The firms that submitted proposals included PinnacleOne, Fluor Enterprises, Griffin Structures, Gafcon, and Bovis Lend Lease. Bovis Lend Lease was unanimously selected by the evaluation committee as the most qualified applicant.
Mayor Beth Krom reported that she was pleased with Bovis Lend Lease for their depth of resources, high level of experience, and use of technology in program management.
The 1,347-acre Orange County Great Park will be a major metropolitan park and the focal point of redevelopment of the larger 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro located in Irvine, California. The Great Park will include extensive natural areas in addition to recreational and cultural uses. The remaining 3,700 acres will be revitalized by the Lennar Corporation and will include residential, educational, commercial and retail uses, and other supporting facilities.
