Stakeholders’ Conference Shapes Vision for Orange County Great Park
More than 200 Orange County residents representing a wide range of interests gathered on Saturday, June 18 for the Orange County Great Park Stakeholders’ Conference. The conference was designed to bring together community leaders, interest groups, and individuals from throughout Orange County and provide them with an opportunity to express their vision for the Great Park.
“It is extremely important that we ensure every Orange County resident has the opportunity to express their vision for the Great Park,” said Larry Agran, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. ”This conference achieved that objective by bringing together over 200 individuals representing sports, arts & culture, veterans’ interests, educators, social service providers, environmental groups, seniors and cross-cultural groups and more to share their vision for the Orange County Great Park.”
After a welcome and brief introduction to the park planning process, breakout groups emphasizing nine areas of specific interest, including arts & culture, business, cross cultural issues, education, environment, seniors, social services, sports & recreation, and veterans’ interests, formed to focus on key park elements. These groups then brought back four major points that were shared with all conference participants.
The information gathered at the conference will be passed on to the Master Design finalists so that these diverse visions can be incorporated into the Great Park Master Design.
