Balloon Park

The Balloon Park is the perfect venue for your events in 2010. This scenic park and event space features a tethered helium balloon ride and also boasts promenades and plazas as well as the historic Hangar 244, which is available for corporate & charity events. Immediately adjacent to the former Marine Corp Air Station El Toro, this venue is expandable to accommodate parking needs as well as large event footprints.

Promenade

The 35,000 sq. ft. tree-lined promenade leads from Hangar 244 across the timeline and up to the Great Park Balloon. Perfect for expanding the event footprint to the front of Hangar 244, this promenade has numerous bench and patio seating clusters embellishing this area. The lighted balloon makes a beautiful backdrop for evening and nighttime events.

Picnic Lawn

A beautiful 325,000 sq. ft. lawn with small trees immediately adjoining the Visitors Center. This area can be used on a first-come ,first-served basis during regular Park hours or it can be used to expand the event footprint from the Visitors Center. An additional 23,000 sq. ft. rear lawn area is also available.

North Lawn

The Great Park North Lawn is home to sports and recreation of all types. There is plenty of room to play on 7 acres of lawn, and the Great Park is pleased to offer an ongoing schedule of free clinics that will get kids moving and active. The North Lawn is available as a site rental location for sport tournaments, corporate picnics as well as festivals and fairs.

Palm Court Arts Complex

The Palm Court Arts Complex is home to the Great Park Gallery and the Great Park Artists Studios, housing a publicly-accessible artists-in-residence program. This brand new civic space features a shaded outdoor performance plaza enhanced by 54 Canary Islands date palms; and the Great Park’s first site-specific permanent public art installation.

Walkable Timeline

A concrete taxiway that was part of the original El Toro Marine Corps Air Station this 59,000 sq. ft. (817’ x 72’) area is available for a variety of event uses. Connecting the Visitors Center with Hangar 244 and the Balloon, the Timeline can expand your event footprint to encompass all or part of the Balloon Park.

Back 40

This 51,000 sq. ft. concrete pad immediately adjoins the rear of Hangar 244 and can be used to expand the event footprint behind the hangar. The adjacent grass field adds an additional 18,000 sq. ft. to the site. Partially fenced in, a secure area and perimeter can be created and acts as an excellent staging area or additional event area in association with events in Hangar 244.

The Great Park Balloon

A tethered helium balloon carries up to 25 passengers to a height of 400 feet, glows with internal illumination and offers a 360 degree view that spans up to 40 miles. Rides are free, weather permitting.

Hangar 244

The newly renovated Hangar 244 is the anchor of the Balloon Park and is an entirely unique airplane hangar that is available as a fabulous event venue. With 6,400 sq. ft. of floor space in the main floor, this historic WWII hangar opens to the North with views of the mountains and to the South with a spectacular view of the big orange helium balloon.

Carousel

The former Fashion Island Carousel has moved to the Orange County Great Park and offers free rides to the public. The carousel has twelve murals, 30 jumping horses/menagerie animals, two chariots and two standing horses. The ride can accommodate up to 36 adults or 40 children. The Great Park joins the ranks of other parks with carousels, including the Central Park in New York, Balboa Park in San Diego and the Place du Carrousel in Paris.

The Farm & Food Lab is a hands-on gardening experience, featuring themed planters with fruits, flowers, vegetables, herbs. The Farm and Food Lab is available as a site rental location for corporate events and receptions.
