About Flights & Sounds
During the months of August and September, Great Park guests will be captivated by the music and performances of Flights & Sounds of Summer (formerly known as Night Flights) presented by the Great Park and the Irvine Barclay Theatre. On Friday nights, live bands will perform in front of Hangar 244 where dance instructors will demonstrate a few simple steps to get the crowds hopping. On Saturday nights, the Great Park will be transformed into an arts and culture destination. Performing artists, from an eclectic mix of styles and cultures will entertain guests in the unique setting of the Preview Park. Complete Flights & Sounds Performance Schedule (PDF)
Chess at the Park
Complimentary chess games are available beginning at 6:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Tables and pieces will be provided.

Hangar Café & the Landing Spot
To complete the evenings, Hangar 244 will be transformed into a café during Flights & Sounds of Summer performances. A fresh and casual gourmet selection of food will be available for purchase to dine-in or to enjoy on the picnic lawn. Suspended above the café, visitors will also be treated to a unique graphic art exhibition that pays homage to the agricultural and aeronautical heritage of El Toro, depicted by vintage orange crate labels from the 1880s to mid-1950s. In addition to the Hangar Café, we are also introducing a bar near the Balloon at Saturday nights called the Landing Spot (age 21 and over, ID required). Hangar Café Menu (PDF)

Comedy Corner
This year, we are also introducing the new Comedy Corner on the terrace, outside of Hangar 244 at 7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Stand-up comedians and comediennes featured on Comedy Central, Conan O’Brien, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, the Improv, Last Comic Standing, and more, will perform for guests prior to every night’s dance or concert.
Night Flights
The Great Park Balloon will also be flying from 7:00 – 10:00 PM (depending on winds and weather conditions) while park visitors on the ground enjoy their evening of dance and music. Note: due to the increase of visitors attending Flights & Sounds, seats on the Great Park Balloon are quickly filled, despite early registration at 6:00 PM. As always, flights are complimentary.
